Privacy policy

ChannelSplice is a TV player with an account for managing your screens. We keep what it needs to work, and we built it so that the things that say the most about you (your playlists and what you watch) are either never collected or stored encrypted with keys we don't have.
What we keep
- Your account: your email address, the name you give (optional), and how you sign in: a salted hash of your password, or the ID Google gives us when you use Google sign-in. Never your password itself.
- Your plan: which plan you have, when it renews or ends, and how many screens it covers.
- Your screens: the name you give each one, its type (for example Android TV), the app version, when it was added, and when it last checked in.
- Viewers (if you use "Who's watching?"): each viewer's name and color, and whether they have a PIN. A PIN is turned into a salted hash in your browser; we never receive the PIN.
- Linked ChannelSplice Servers: each server's name, and the names of the profiles it offers (for example "News").
- Release emails: whether you asked to hear about new releases. Off unless you turn it on.
- A sign-in cookie on channelsplice.com that keeps you signed in. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
- Short-lived counters that slow down repeated attempts (for example many sign-in attempts in a few minutes). They are keyed by a scrambled form of the address a request came from, never the address itself, and are deleted within a day.
What we store but can't read
These are encrypted before they reach us, with keys that stay on your devices or behind a passphrase only you know:
- the playlists you save on the account page (links and logins only),
- the lineup each screen receives,
- favorites, hidden channels and sort order shared between your screens,
- the names of groups in your playlists and which ones each screen shows,
- reports a screen sends to your own server about a stream that failed.
We hold these so your devices can exchange them, and we delete them with your account. We can't recover your passphrase. One honest limit: the account page that does the encrypting is served by us, so this protects what we store, and relies on the page being the genuine one.
What we don't collect
- What you watch, when, or for how long.
- The contents of your playlists or guides, and the video streams. Your screens fetch those directly from your sources; they never pass through ChannelSplice.
- Your location, contacts, or anything else on your devices.
- Anything for advertising. There are no ads, and we don't sell or rent personal information.
How it's used
To run the service: signing you in, pairing screens, delivering their lineups, applying your plan, and showing you your account. To email you about your account when needed, and about new releases only if you asked.
Who else is involved
- Cloudflare hosts ChannelSplice and its database. Like any host, it handles network traffic, including IP addresses, to deliver the service.
- Google, if you choose to sign in with Google, tells us your email address, name and Google account ID.
- Resend delivers the emails we send you, such as a link to reset your password. It receives your email address and the message.
- A payment provider will handle payment details when paid plans open. We will not see or store card numbers.
How long it's kept
- Your account and everything listed above: until you delete the account.
- A screen that is never added to an account: removed after 7 days.
- Sign-in sessions: 30 days. Password-reset links: 30 minutes. Failed-stream reports: one day.
Deleting your data
Sign in at channelsplice.com/account and choose Delete my account. That removes your account and everything kept for it, and your screens go back to showing a pairing code. See deleting your account for details.
Children
ChannelSplice is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so on this page and, for significant changes, by email.
